Woven Cohorts
Thanks for your interest in being a part of our first cohort through our Woven Program. Beginning in the Spring of 2026, we will begin hosting cohorts of ministry leaders. The goal of Woven is to invite congregations to explore how ministry leaders can weave children into worship and congregational life. This has been an intentional focus of our ministry at First Light Fellowship. Over the last 8 years we have learned a lot about what questions to ask, what experiments to try, what kids gravitate towards, and also many things that present more challenges than blessings.
Woven Cohort will be led by our pastor, Rev. Kristin Willett. Participants will gather virtually every other week for 3 months. This cohort will be a time for us to share some of what we have learned, but the intention is NOT to create a template for what children focused ministry looks like. Instead we hope to shape a group or ministry leaders that will ask questions together, explore topics related to children and their faith, and be willing to experiment in our own unique contexts to find ways that help weave children more fully into the lives of our congregations. Will we share what we have learned?!? Of course, we have spent years diving into this area. But we hope you will share as well, and that together we will all tweak our ministry and experiment in our own contexts to best serve the children in our midst.
We have space for 8 congregations to participate in this first cohort- with 1-2 reps from the congregation involved. Ideally you will have buy in from the people who can support minor shifts and experimenting in this area. Each congregation will receive a supply kit before our first cohort that will contain: a couple of books that we have found helpful, a journal to accompany us through this process, and some other fun items to bless your experience.
To participate you need to commit to being part of a zoom call every other Tuesday beginning on February 24th through May 19th from 1-2pm. We are mindful that there will be one-off sessions that participants will likely not be able to attend, but please ensure you can participate in at least 5 of the 7 sessions (more if at all possible!). The dates are: 2/24, 3/10, 3/24, 4/7, 4/21, 5/5, 5/19.
In addition, there will be some reading and/or activities for you to do in between sessions so that you can get the most out of this experience. We anticipate that will be 1-2 hours a week at most.
All congregations that participate will have access to a $1000 micro grant to help fund an experiment of your choosing that emerges from our time together and focuses on weaving children more fully into the life of your congregation. More information on those grants will be shared mid way through our cohort season.
